The trip started with an easy launch from the Nildottie river front near the public boat ramp. I then paddled upstream until reaching the boat ramp at Greenways Landing (This looks like another good place to put in), here I crossed to the other bank and scoted back down-stream to find the entry to the Devon Down North wetland. The entry is a well maintained channel with no obstacles. The wetlands is a large lagoon that shows evidence of having been completely dry during the drought with lots of drowned trees and shrubs to work around and over. I meandered my way through the lagoon between reed beds and thorny dead bushes. There's plenty of wildlife, I saw kangaroos on the shore and a couple of water rats hunting for food in the water as well as pelicans, black swans, kites hawks, ducks etc. I worked my way down to the down-stream exit of the lagoon and back into the river. The paddle back up the river was also enjoyable with impressive limestone cliffs towering overhead.
